Who trades forex? Basically, the nature of the typical forex trader cannot easily be ascertained since the forex market consists of an especially wide variety of participants. These forex market players range substantially in transaction size, volume and trading intention, but they generally fall into one of the categories below.
Market-makers: This type of forex participant generally works as a professional forex trader at major commercial and investment banks. They act like a specialist on the stock or futures exchanges in that market-makers will provide two-way prices to those who they agree to quote. Such prices consist of both a bid price at which they are willing to buy the base currency and an offer price at which they are willing to sell the base currency. Often they will quote such prices to other banks that have reciprocally agreed to quote two-way prices in return, as well as to their own bank
