Markets.com's holding company, SafeCap Investments, came from a company originally founded in 2006. It was previously called GFC Markets, and is licensed and regulated in Cyprus, in the European Union. The name was changed from Go Forex and later GFC Markets as it has expanded the range of financial instruments available to include indices, commodities and some shares.
In addition to European compliance with the Financial Instruments Directive, it is licensed in the UK by the Financial Services Authority (FSA).
Markets.com main platform is based on the Act Trader software, which is widely adopted and has a user friendly interface. There is a web based platform available, called the Markets Java Trader, which allows you to trade on any internet connected computer without a download. The third platform is one for mobile trading from your cell phone.
Markets.com has three types of account available, depending on how large a trader you are. They are called the Mini, the Standard and the VIP, and they all give 200 to 1 leverage.
The Mini account can be opened with $50, but if you deposit $100 or more you get a $50 bonus, and the bonus goes up to $250 for higher deposits. It’s an additional $20 per month if you want to receive mobile alerts with this account.
If you deposit at least $2500 you qualify for a Standard account, get free mobile alerts, and a bonus which goes up to $2000 with larger deposits.
To become a VIP trader, you need an initial deposit of at least $20,000 to open your account. Your bonus is negotiable, and you get a Personal Market Dealer and unlimited news and SMS service.
Deposits and withdrawals are easy, with credit and banking options available.
Markets.com gives 24 hour multi-lingual support, both online and via telephone. The calls are local to 25 different countries, and Markets has made a point of providing excellent customer service. The software support is also good, with a Trader Manual and explanatory videos, making it a good choice for the beginner.
